In the long products market segment, the mostly unknown Chinese producer Tsingshan is volume-wise by far the biggest producer in the world. Based on revenues, the No. 1 position is still taken by the Schmolz + Bickenbach Group, which ranks No. 2 based on volume terms. No. 3 is Taiwan’s Walsin Lihwa Group which maintains 3 plants in China and Taiwan. The fast growing Indian producer Viraj is already bigger in output than most European mills.
